About us
MAN, Museum Anna Nordlander, is tasked with spreading knowledge about contemporary art in an inclusive way to the general public. We do this through exhibitions, pedagogy and development of the conditions for contemporary art in the Västerbotten Region. Our program is characterized by international participation while we work with current local issues. Our business is based on audience participation, where co-creation is an important part.
MAN is a living museum in constant motion.
We appear in unexpected places and in different contexts. Sometimes at Sara Kulturhus or Nordanå in Skellefteå. Sometimes somewhere else entirely.
We want to be curious, experimental and fearless. We tackle difficult questions with openness. We create meeting places for artists, writers, musicians, students, dancers and everyone else who is curious about practicing and taking part in artistic expression. Some of the things that are most important to us are dialogue and diversity, the importance of place and the individual's different conditions.
Our pioneering role is something we are proud of. Since the mid-1990s, we have contributed to making the stories of female artists visible. Some examples are exhibitions by, among others, Monica Sjöö, Stina Wollter, Iiu Susiraja, Julia Peyrone, Gunvor Nelson, Maria Miesenberger and Natalie Djurberg.
MAN does many things. The best way to keep track of where we are is by following us on Instagram and Facebook.
